Oct 1999 - The Move to Sydney - PJV (Pre JarrahVan)

In October 1999, as a spring chicken, I left my nest in Perth and headed out into the real world for the first time - Across the Nullarbor to Sydney !  Arrangements made, job secured, girlfriend moving over a month later, I was all set.  My mate Simon joined me for my inaugural Nullarbor crossing.  It was never going to be a leisurely trip.  We set off about 10pm on a Wednesday night (after my last shift at work) and I was due at my new job in Sydney at 9am on Monday morning.  Breakfast in Norseman (730km from Perth), and onto Eucla (another 710km) for our one and only motel stay.  Other than a couple of hours sleep on a park bench in some town between the black stump and the middle of nowhere, it was Eucla to Sydney express.  We arrived in Sydney on a Saturday afternoon and we were immediately introduced to the Sydney traffic on King Georges Road !  To this day, this was the fastest crossing I have done, and hopefully it will remain that way.  Many thanks to Simon for making the trip with me.  I never would have made it into the office on time for the new job without him.
